Now Available Massachuseets Process Pipefitters License

On September 17,2014 the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety started accepting applications for the new "Process Pipefitters" license. The grandfathering period will be open for 180 days. All current Massachusetts Plumbers and Pipefitters are eligble.
Applications are available by going to www.mass.gov/dps and following the links or they may be picked up at the union hall. If you have any questions contact Brett LaPlante at 401-943-3033

Local 51 Leadership meets with Massachusetts Congressional Delegation

On March 12, 2014 while at the legislative conference in Washington, D.C. the leadership of Local 51 met with our Massachusetts Congressional delagation. In attendence were Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, Congressman Mike Capuano, Congressman John Tierney, Congressman Jim McGovern, Congressman Stephen Lynch and Congressman Bill Keating. The discussions that took place inclued talks on the sunset of the PPA, apprenticeship programs and infrastructure investment. Local 51 would like to thank our Senators and Congressman for their time and input on theses issues.

Apprentice Dan Ledoux Honored

On March 18, 2014 Business Manager Tim Byrne presented Dan Ledoux a Certificate of Acheivement and a UA ring in recognition for finishing 1st in the pipefitting discipline at the UA District 1 Apprenticeship Competition that was held this past May at the Conneticut Plumbers and Piefitters Local 777 training facility. Local 51 would like to wish Dan much success in the years to come and congratulations on a job well done.

"It's Homer Time"

Local 51 member John Homer and UA member Phil Gray recently returned from an emergency repair weld for Phillipine Power in the city of Manilla in the Phillipines. The weld was made on 20" O.D. pipe with an I.D. of 16". The weld procedure was the "diametrics gold track 6" - auto tig welding machine on a track for heavy wall pipe.
