A letter of thanks from Valley Tech
11/26/2008

Local 51 Instructors, Al Caron and Jon Marland, gave a terrific presentation and spoke to the students at Blackstone Valley Regional Technical High School on Class Day.

Thomas Handfield, Business Manager
Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 51
11 Hemingway Drive
East Providence, RI  02915

Dear Tom,

Recently it was our privilege at Valley Tech to welcome two Union Pipefitters from Local 51. We were very grateful they took the time out of their busy schedule to give a presentation to our group of 11th grade students.

Al Caron and Jon Marland gave a terrific presentation and spoke to the students about the Union Pipe trades and what it takes to be a successful journeyman.  Their presentation drew the audience in and held their attention.  Jon and Al told the students about the pipe trades and just what it is that a pipefitter does.  The students appreciated the hands on experience with tig welding and shielded metal arc welding on pipe. Al and Jon reminded the students that the learning doesn’t stop when you leave high school; they shared the advantages of the union construction trades and the educational benefits that they offer.

On behalf of the Manufacturing Technology department at Valley Tech please accept our thanks for a great presentation and for the time and effort both Jon and Al put forth.
Keep up the good work brothers, all of us here look forward to seeing both Al and Jon in the future.

Fraternally yours,

Mark Rudis
Welding Instructor
