Fall River Mayor Flannigan, Foxwoods announce Casino Plans - (1/28/2014)
Today January 28,2014 the Mayor of Fall River, William Flannigan and Foxwoods Casino CEO, Scott Butera held a news conference at the Fall River City Hall to announce plans to build a 750 million dollar casino in Fall River Mass. The press conference was attended by Business Manager Tim Byrne, Business Agent Paul Alvarez, Business Agent John McMullen, Organizer Brett LaPlante and the rest of the Southeastern Mass. Building trades.The Casino is expected to bring 2000 construction jobs to the area and Mayor Flannigan said that organized labor will be used to construct the Casino. The Mayor also stated that the City of Fall River will hold a special referendum to ask the residents of Fall River to allow the Casino to be built in their city in late March or early April.
